Even if you don’t spend every evening in from of the TV you must have seen at least a couple of them. The iconic Coca Cola ad with its bright red trucks bringing happiness in a bottle to a snowy town or Ferrero Rocher’s ‘The Ambassador’s Reception’ remind us that Christmas is just around the corner.

This year though, UK brands have really upped their game and presented us with an amazing showcase or heartwarming ads that tell beautiful stories and make us believe in magic. Just to name a few, John Lewis’ “Monty the Penguin“, “Christmas is for Sharing” from Sainsbury’s, “Follow the Fairies” from Marks & Spencer, Boots’ “Special Because“, Iceland’s “Christmas with Peter Andre” and the first-in-30-years McVitie’s “Victoria Christmas Choir“.

But which one wins the festive TV battle? Think we all have our favourites so will leave you to decide. (Go #Monty!)

With the brands using #tags in their TV ads and dutifully responding to all tweets, M&S generated amazing amount of social chatter with its innovative #followthefairies hashtag. Secretly, the UK company set up @thetwofairies Twitter account and launched a campaign that aimed to bring a bit or magic and sparkle to unsuspecting people across the UK. Retweeting pics of surprise gifts from “the fairies”, M&S has managed to successfully integrate TV advert with social media and as a result generated media coverage.

Happy Christmas!
